Eleanor is watching time fly. Are you?

September is already over!  I feel like this semester is moving quickly, which is a bittersweet feeling.  I am excited to be finished with classes, but I have some nerves about student teaching and the edTPA.  Now that we have all been in our classrooms at least once, were the concerns that you listed on the first class blog prompt as big a deal as you thought they would be?  If so, please explain why.  How can you continue to tackle these problems and what are you doing to overcome your nervous feelings?  Please also let me know how you are feeling about student teaching and becoming a teacher in the near future.  I can hardly believe we are almost finished!"

  1. My initial concern before going to my classroom was about finding my place. After my first day, that concern was completely gone. My cooperating teacher has had many student teachers over the year and was eager to let me help out right from the start. I am still taking some time to observe lessons before I teach to the class, but I no longer feel nervous about how things will go. I feel very comfortable with both my cooperating teacher and all of the students. I am very excited for student teaching and becoming a teacher in the near future!

My initial concern before going to the classroom is getting my placement and setting up my observations for my clinical. I was nervous that I was not gonna have enough time to set up my observation hours including my four lesson plans that I will present. What I would do to overcome these nerves is talk with my cooperating teacher and she would give me helpful tips on how to organize and manage my time that way I can squeeze in my observations accordingly. I am very nervous about student teaching because of all the lesson plans and new material I'm going to make in the future. But I am going to take it day by day and do the best I can to be the best teacher for my 5th graders!!

Eleanor wants us to think deeply about the semester.

We are finishing up our observation hours in the next couple of weeks.  I remember my first prompt, I was amazed at how quickly September ...
